While working in a local factory, Jennifer Smitek met a co-worker whose two daughters were hair stylists. One daughter began her career locally, but had traveled to Europe to perfect her skills. Encouraged by this daughter's success, Jennifer decided to attend cosmetology school and graduated from Fairview Beauty Academy in 2002. In December 2005 she realized her dream of being self-employed when she founded A Cut Above Hair Salon in Avon on Colorado Avenue. We met with Jennifer and stylist Kristin Montague recently, and listened as they provided this overview of the services available at A Cut Above Hair Salon;

A Cut Above Hair Salon is a full-service salon offering haircuts for men, women, and children, in addition to perms, coloring, facial waxing, up-dos, shampoo sets, and blow drying. We have four stations which are staffed by two full-time and two part-time stylists. In the near future we will be adding nail care services, including pedicures and manicures. The salon is wheel chair accessible, and while we do accept walk-ins, we heartily recommend appointments to eliminate potential waiting time.

As we are a small, intimate salon, we are able to get to know our customers on a one-to-one basis. We not only offer a comfortable, family-oriented environment, but our prices are very reasonable, also. Our affordable prices, convenient location, and the recent growth of the Avon community have combined to become the key to our success.
