While vacationing with their family in Myrtle Beach, Terry and Theresa Bryant bumped into a friend from Avon who owned Angelo's Pizza. Two of Terry and Theresa's daughters were working at Angelo's at the time, and over dinner one evening the owner mentioned that he was considering selling his restaurant. Terry had just received his college degree and was trying to decide whether he wanted to pursue his master's degree or buy a business. Realizing that owning Angelo's would be a good case study when he returned to school for his MBA, Terry and Theresa became the new owners of Angelo's Pizza II & Hound Dog Cafe in October 1995. We met with Terry and Theresa recently, and listened as they discussed their restaurant's offerings;
Angelo's Pizza II & Hound Dog Cafe is a family oriented restaurant specializing in great food at every day low prices. We offer award-winning pizza, ribs, wings, spaghetti, lasagna, Veal and Chicken Parmesan, subs, sandwiches, salads, Stromboli, foldovers, and calzones. We are open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and offer dine-in, carry-out, and delivery service. One of us is always here, and we personally handle the deliveries to Avon, Avon Lake, Sheffield, Sheffield Lake, and parts of North Ridgeville.
We strive to keep our prices moderate without the use of coupons. Our prices are the same or less every day than you will find at the restaurants run by our competitors even if you have one of their coupons. Most of our food is homemade, including our pizza dough, sauces, meatballs, lasagna, rigatoni, shells, Veal and Chicken Parmesan, and ribs. We do not serve alcoholic beverages, but instead focus solely on quality food at a reasonable price served in a wholesome family environment. We can seat seventy-five guests comfortably, and have hosted birthday parties, wedding rehearsal dinners, and funeral receptions.
We have a play area for the children that includes a tree house and a small trampoline, and we have installed a big screen TV for the adults. Soccer, football, and Little League teams will often tape their games so they can watch them when they have their end-of-the-year parties. Guests get comfortable watching the TV and typically stay until the movie is over. When they come here, they feel right at home.
Our dining room has been named the Hound Dog Cafe, and it serves as a warehouse for my Elvis Presley collection. Elvis was always my idol, so we display many articles that previously belonged to him. We have one of his shirts, his racket ball racket, his leather jacket, and a scarf from one of his concerts. Customers are amazed because most of it is original, although we do have some replicas, also. Many of our guests share our interest in Elvis, and can't believe we have more Elvis memorabilia on display than normally found at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
We proudly display the many awards we have won, including Best Pizza in Cleveland in 2001.
