Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was founded as a family-owned and operated nursing home in Avon, Ohio in 1964. When the original owners retired, the facility was purchased by Bill Shackleford and Prentice Thompson. Bill is certified in gerontology, and between them Bill and Prentice have fifty-five years cumulative experience as owners, administrators, and corporate officers. We met recently with Marketing Director Louise Ceepo, and listened as she provided this overview of Good Samaritan's services and offerings;

Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a Medicare and Medicaid Certified facility offering a full continuum of short and long-term care. Our services include skilled rehabilitation, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, hospice care, diabetes management, wound care management, secured Alzheimer's and dementia care, peritoneal dialysis, and bariatric care. Our mission is to focus on the uniqueness of each individual in a stimulating and family environment, providing quality personalized care, mutual respect, and staff professionalism.

We are a 150 bed facility offering both private and semi-private rooms. Located in a beautiful, country setting on seven sprawling acres, our one floor facility includes a large, outdoor patio overlooking an impressive expanse of blooming flowers and trees. Residents can relax while visiting with friends on our sun porch, or enjoy any of the many activities held throughout the day in our main dining room. Our residents' families are welcome to host birthday parties, holiday functions, and family gatherings for their loved one in any of our private dining rooms, and family members and guests are encouraged to visit our dining room and enjoy delicious and nutritious meals with our residents.

While providing high quality care for our residents, we also have a lot of fun here. It is no uncommon to see both staff and residents smiling, laughing, and even singing.
