Charissa Schalk has held a lifelong interest in economics and working with people to help them make sure they are making money in their business endeavors. Her mother, for example, raised chickens and sold eggs. By tracking her mother's expenses, Charissa helped her establish a pricing structure that enabled her home business to run profitably. In 1999, Charissa founded Lorelei Business Management in Avon, Ohio where she began offering her skills to others. Lorelei Business Management specializes in payroll and bookkeeping services, in addition to personal and small business tax preparation. I work mainly with smaller companies, and handle a variety of their financial needs, including bookkeeping, invoicing, and bill payment services. For construction and service companies that do not have their own office, I take their incoming calls and faxes, functioning as the dispatcher for their service departments.

I prepare companies' payroll, quarterly payroll tax filings, and annual tax returns. When they have employees who perform work in many different municipalities, I help them track their required payroll withholdings for the various localities so their tax filings can be completed accurately in a timely fashion.

I offer a wide range of business and personal income tax preparation services, ranging from electronic filing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to direct deposit of refunds and refund anticipation loans. As an Enrolled Agent (EA), I am a federally-authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the IRS for audits, collections, and appeals.

For clients who are just getting started in business, I help them set-up their bookkeeping systems, obtain Federal Identification Numbers (EINs), and acquire account account numbers with the State of Ohio for payroll taxes. By providing them with expert financial advice and services, they are then free to concentrate on building their businesses secure in the knowledge that their bookkeeping requirement have properly been met.
