The Rock Pile

The Rock Pile was founded by Brian McKeown in 1986 as a family operation serving the landscaping supply needs of the Avon community. In 1989, Brian and Mary moved their growing business into a 1921 era barn on Nagle road, and in 1996 built a new building next door. Over the past two decades the company has grown substantially, and today employs between forty-five and forty-eight staff members during their busy season. We met with Brian recently, and listened as he provided this overview of The Rock Pile's products and services;

The Rock Pile is a yard and garden supply center filling the landscaping needs of both contractors and homeowners alike. We carry a wide assortment of landscaping materials and supplies, including decorative rock and stone, pre-cast concrete and stone pavers, gravel for driveways and construction purposes, high quality top soil, mulch, organic fertilizers and plant growth products, premium quality bird feeds and bird feeders, squirrel feeders, pond accessories, food for all types of fish, and propane for industrial applications and for homeowners who are BBQing in the summer or heating their garages in the winter. We sell seasoned firewood during the fall and winter, and also carry an extensive assortment of gifts and decorative items for your home and garden.

Not only do we have all the materials and supplies for your yard and garden needs, but we are always available to discuss your project and provide you with tips and opinions on how to make your project a success. Our staff is always ready to help you calculate the amount of materials you need and offer advice on the proper selection of landscaping materials.

We serve over 20,000 customers on a repetitive basis, and delivery service is available for virtually everything we carry. We make over 5,000 deliveries a year in the local area, and our drivers are very professional, courteous, and they do what they are supposed to do and do it right.
