Vanity School of Cosmetology

After graduating from cosmetology school, Melissa Matynka wanted to provide a welcoming environment where others could learn the skills they would need to become successful cosmetologists. Together with her mother Maria, Melissa founded Vanity School of Cosmetology in September 2006 in Sheffield Village, Ohio. We met with Melissa and Maria recently, and listened as they described the services Vanity School of Cosmetology offers;

Vanity School of Cosmetology provides full cosmetology and nail care courses, in addition to operating an on-site, full-service salon for men, women, and children. Our students prepare for the State Board examination while honing their skills in haircutting and styling, texturizing, coloring, skin care, hair removal, make-up techniques, and caring for natural and artificial nails. They learn about owning and managing salons, salon ecology, and professional development, including image, communication, and work ethics. We also provide the public with full salon services which are performed by senior students under the instruction of certified instructors.

We offer a very nice facility for both students and patrons, and we strive to ensure our customers and students receive the personal attention of the owners. Our cosmetology course includes 1,500 hours of training which can be completed by full time students in approximately ten months. We are State Board certified, and refer our potential students to several local banks and credit unions known for helping to provide financing for their education.

As our students are training, they practice their newly acquired skills on friends and family members. Once they are fully prepared to offer everything on our menu, they begin working in our clinic where they offer their services to the public at very reasonable rates. At this point in their training, they have become very proficient cosmetologists, and begin to gain valuable experience working with customers under the watchful eye of one of our certified instructors.
